My friend Maurizio asked me for some help to finish his loft located in the old part of the city. Working on this canvass has been so inspiring. The loft features, 9ft ceilings with tall windows, amazing brick wall, blond hardwood floors and a skylight that enlightens the space.
When I work on someone’s space, I always inspire myself from his/her personal style. I wanted to give the space an Italian inspired contemporary feel derived from the great interior designers from Milan. The space also had to be masculine yet sophisticated in order to reflect his personality.
THE FLOOR PLAN:
LIVING ROOM :
Like most men, a big tv is a must. So the challenge was to dress the wall around the huge tv and keep the fireplace as the focal point of the room.
Wall Unit Inspiration
This look can be easily achieved by using BESTA wall units and shelves from IKEA.
Here is the suggested set-up:
Never be reluctant to use IKEA, most designers including the well-knowned ones use IKEA products and design. The trick is to mix it with unique pieces in order to achieve a sophisticated look design for less.
For the living room, I went with neutrals, classic patterns and elegant pieces…
READING AREA :
The living was big enough to afford a reading space that will showcase the fireplace…
ADD A BOOKSHELF:
A great way to separate the living area from the dining area is to use an opened concept bookshelf. Maurizio already had an EXPEDIT bookshelf which looks spectacular when you dress it with personal accessories:

DINING AREA :
The only change I made to the dining area was to update the chairs. Always keep a maximum of 4 chairs around the table.
THE HALLWAY :
As you walk into the loft, a long hallway brings you to the main living area. A display of amazing framed pictures was then the perfect idea to dress up those walls.
THE ENTRANCE also welcomes you by a unique Italian dresser. The perfect way to enhance this beautiful piece is to hang a mirror on top and dress it up with beautiful accessories.
BUDGET AND SOURCES :
The budget highlight the meaning of my blog…
